F R I E N D S A N D A S S O C I AT ES , I am honored to present the Vanderbilt Master of Science in Finance Class of 2020 Employment Report. The Vanderbilt MSF program had another strong year for employment outcomes, despite the unprecedented circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and its subsequent economic impact. Strong employment outcomes: The MSF program reached high levels of employment outcomes in the fall and winter, with 70 percent of the class receiving offers by February. Early employment success allowed many students to support classmates who were still seeking jobs through the spring. During an unexpectedly challenging time, our students showed resilience, flexibility, and great hustle. They embodied what sets our students apart—showing eagerness for opportunities and humility through the recruiting process. This hard work from our students, employer partners, alumni, and career center resulted in 95 percent offers of employment within 3 months of graduation (98 percent at 6 months) during an incredibly challenging year.

Committed employer and alumni partners: We are extremely grateful to our employer partners who exhibited great care and concern for our MSF students overthe last year. A large majority of our employers honored their full-time offers while creating flexible start times and remote working locations to prioritize health and safety. A total of 42 employers hired our MSF students, with 8 of those employers hiring 36 percent of the class. We are thrilled to see multiple students land at the same company. More than one third of students received offers through alumni referrals, which demonstrates the continued commitment of our alumni network. Excellent outcomes in diverse paths and geographies: MSF students from the Class of 2020 are spread across the U.S. (with one student in China) and in a variety of career paths. A total of 27 students (49 percent of the class) entered investment banking upon graduation. Other graduates accepted positions in a variety of functions, including investment management, real estate, consulting, corporate finance, and private equity. As we wrap up our 15th year of the Vanderbilt MSF program, we continue to be one of the most established and well-respected programs in the country, with an active and invaluable alumni base. A loyal and accessible alumni network is essential in today’s competitive job market, and we would not be able to achieve these strong employment outcomes without the support of our dedicated Vanderbilt alumni. Our focus on networking and early career programming (MSF job search preparation launches months before classes begin) give our students a key competitive advantage. I am incredibly proud of how the Vanderbilt MSF Class of 2020 graduates navigated an unprecedented year while launching their careers, supporting each other, and giving back to their communities.
