From Minor to Master’s: Vanderbilt Business Launches Master of Management for Hoogland Undergraduate Business Program Graduates

Mar 9, 2026

By Maria Misbach

The Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management will offer a new Master of Management program beginning Fall 2026. Vanderbilt undergraduate students from the Classes of 2023 through 2026 who have completed the Hoogland Undergraduate Business Program are eligible for the August 2026 start.

The full-time, on-campus program expands Owen’s portfolio of specialized master’s degrees and creates a direct pathway for recent business minor graduates to deepen their knowledge before entering or advancing in the workforce.

“This program reflects where business education is headed,” said Thomas Steenburgh, Ralph Owen Dean. “Students want real career momentum and flexibility in how they build their path. The Master of Management gives our business minors a way to continue their educational journey at Vanderbilt and step confidently into competitive roles.”

Structured for Impact

The Master of Management is a nine-month program requiring 30 credit hours. Students matriculate in August and graduate in May.

The curriculum includes core coursework in accounting, finance, marketing, operations, leading teams and organizations, and strategy. Students must also complete at least one 12-credit-hour concentration.

For the inaugural class, five concentrations will be available, which align with areas of employer demand:

  • Consulting
  • Entrepreneurship
  • General Management
  • Healthcare
  • Operations and Analytics

“We’ve heard directly from business minors who want more depth before launching into consulting, strategy, and analytics roles,” said Jennifer Escalas, senior associate dean of academic programs. “This degree builds on what they’ve already learned as undergraduates and gives them focused, graduate-level preparation in just one additional year.”

Designed for Career Clarity

The Master of Management is designed for students seeking roles in consulting, corporate strategy, operations, analytics, and cross-functional rotational programs. Employers recruiting at Vanderbilt include firms such as Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, Capital One, and Amazon.

“The goal is to give our recent graduates a clear advantage,” said Kelly Goldsmith, faculty director of the Hoogland Undergraduate Business Program. “With this program, they can enter the job market with more depth, more clarity, and a stronger professional narrative.”

The application for Fall 2026 entry is expected to open April 1, 2026, with the final application deadline on June 15, 2026.
