Biography

By teaching with Microsoft Excel, Professor Larry LeBlanc has taken his management science elective from one of the least popular to one of the most popular courses in the Owen School.

Awards & Accomplishments

Professor LeBlanc's honors are many. He served as a Scientific Advisor to France Telecom, visiting their offices in France several times. He received a Japanese Government Research Award for travel to Tokyo. 

LeBlanc was a Visiting Professor for short periods at City University of Hong Kon, Korea University (9 times), Higher Colleges of Technology (U.A.E. twice), Tel Aviv University (Israel), the Technion (Israel), the University of Chile, the University of Ulm (Germany, 4 times), Linkoping Institute of Technology (Sweden). 

He was an invited senior fellow at the Second Chan Wui & Yunkin Rising Star Workshop (Italy). He was also an invited speaker at Sultan Qaboos University (Oman), Kuwait University, Indonesian Institute for Management Development, University of Science & Technology of China at Shanghai, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, University College London, University of Ulster (N. Consulting

Professor LeBlanc's consulting activities include assignments in the areas of optimization models for production and personnel assignment, forecasting, aggregate production planning, project planning, and inventory control. He has provided consulting services for a long list of clients, including FedEx, Johnson Electric, Maury Regional Medical Center, McDermott, Inc., Mendocino Forrest Products, Mississippi Chemical Company, Nissan North America Supply Chain Management group, Nu-kote Internation, Inc., Ingram Barge Dr. Pepper Company, DaVita, KOSTA (Seoul, Korea), Port Everglades Steel Corporation Recover Green Roofs (Boston), Rogers Group, U.S. Army Inventory Research Office, Heery International, Inc., Trailways, Inc., Eaton Corporation.  

Leadership

Professor LeBlanc has served as Secretary and Council Member of the Telecommunications Section of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). Prior to that, he served as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Council Member of the Transportation Science Section of INFORMS.

Teaching

Professor LeBlanc teaches Spreadsheets for Business Analytics, Data Visualization, Spreadsheet Macros (VBA) for IT Applications, and Spreadsheets for Health Care Analytics.

On A Personal Note...

Professor LeBlanc’s personal interests include instrument flying, scuba diving, photography, and biking.
