Professor Alan’s research focuses on retail operations, supply chain management, and airline operations.

Awards & Accomplishments

Professor Alan earned the Meritorious and Distinguished Service Awards from Management Science and the Meritorious Service Award from M&SOM. He was also named one of "The 40 Best Business Professors Under 40" by Poets & Quants in 2018.

Professor Alan's research has appeared in Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and the Journal of Marketing.

Teaching

Professor Alan teaches Operations Management and Supply Chain Management in the MBA program.

Research Interests

In the retail operations domain, Professor Alan explores the operational and financial implications of retailers' category and inventory management practices. Professor Alan also conducts research in airline operations, where he studies the operational determinants of financial success.
