The Vanderbilt Evening MBA delivers a rigorous, flexible experience designed for professionals ready to learn what’s next without stepping away from their careers.

Curriculum at a Glance

The Vanderbilt Evening MBA is a flexible program featuring the rigorous business training and career advancement opportunities of the traditional daytime MBA, but tailored to full-time working professionals. Students can take up to two courses at a time, with each course running one evening a week from 6 to 9:15 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. Daytime and online elective courses are also available. Completion of the degree will average around three years. 

The Evening MBA pairs a rigorous core in finance, strategy, operations, and more with electives that allow students to go deeper in the areas that matter most to their careers.

The Evening MBA requires 62 credit hours made up of 21 hours of required courses and 41 hours of electives.

Leadership Development Program

Vanderbilt Evening MBA students can benefit from our renowned Leadership Development Program (LDP). Designed to help students better understand themselves as leaders, the program focuses on developing self-awareness, strengthening leadership capabilities, and translating insight into action.

Rather than a traditional classroom course, the Leadership Development Program is a co-curricular experience that complements academic coursework, career development, and leadership opportunities. Through assessments, executive coaching, reflection, and practical application, students gain a deeper understanding of their leadership strengths, motivations, and potential derailers. These insights allow students to grow intentionally throughout their MBA experience and beyond.

Participation in leadership development activities is flexible. Students can engage with coaching, reflection, and programming in ways that align with their individual goals and schedules.

We offer our Evening MBA students access to the LDP team, the Hogan Assessment, and executive coaching. The Leadership Development Program is an optional benefit and is not required as part of the curriculum. 

Student Support

The Academic and Student Affairs Office (ASA) supports the student experience at Vanderbilt Business from Orientation to Commencement. The ASA team serves as the main point of contact for academic scheduling, registration, student life, and well-being. This includes providing professional academic advisors to guide Evening MBA students through their academic journey at Vanderbilt.

FAQs

  • Is this the same degree as the daytime MBA program?

    Yes. The degree earned is the Vanderbilt Master of Business Administration (MBA). 

  • Is the Evening MBA program accredited?

    Yes, our Evening MBA program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which is the world's leading accrediting association. To achieve and retain AACSB accreditation, a business school must meet a wide range of rigorous quality standards, including an approved curriculum, a high quality of research produced, appropriate admissions criteria and graduation requirements, and a library and computer facilities. 

  • What is the grading system?

    Our grading system is as follows: SP (Superior Pass) = 4.0; HP (High Pass) = 3.5; P (Pass) = 3.0; LP (Low Pass) = 2.5; F (Fail) = 0.0. Some test grades are numeric. At the beginning of each course, the syllabus will establish the criteria by which the course grade is computed. Please keep in mind that each class grade is a combination of your individual test scores and individual or team assignments, presentations and special projects.

    A grade of 3.0 is required to graduate. 

  • Is it acceptable to miss class occasionally?

    There may be a time when an unavoidable event dictates an absence. However, in order to graduate, Evening MBA students must cover a large amount of material weekly. In the rare case when you must miss a class, you must clear your absence with the faculty. Exams are not to be missed. Individual faculty reserve the right to refuse makeup exams. You should make every effort to learn the missed material and prepare for the next set of classes so that you don't risk falling significantly behind in any courses. 

  • Can I transfer from one program to another within the business school?

    Internal program transfer requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Scholarships are program-specific and do not transfer between programs.
