Owen Team Takes Home First Prize in Global Supply Chain Management Case Competition

Jul 15, 2024

By Nathaniel Luce

A team of MBA students from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management took home top honors at the fourth annual Global Supply Chain Management MBA Case Competition, besting a competitive group of graduate business students representing 19 of the world’s top MBA programs.  Team members included Owen students Liz Wu, Erika Bacon, Brad Cayer and Roe Rogers.

The two-phase annual contest – hosted by Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management – is considered among the top case competitions dedicated to operations and supply chain issues.  This year’s challenge for participating teams required in-depth exploration of the benefits and risks with changing the business platform for a fictitious automotive-related manufacturing firm amidst global pricing pressure, wage competition for its best managers and employees, an unchanged supply network and untested export opportunities abroad.

The top three teams took home cash and prizes provided by the event’s corporate sponsors, including Kimberly-Clark, Eaton Corporation and Unilever.
