2021-2022 Rankings Roundup

Jun 14, 2022

COVID proved to be a significant source of disruption for the rankings industry, as many publications had to navigate delays and the unwillingness of some schools to participate over the last 2 years. Halfway through 2022, we have a nearly complete slate of rankings for 2022, and we are pleased to see Owen achieve gains in many lists and Top 25 status in nearly all the rankings in which we participate. In this roundup, we make comparisons to 2021 and, in some cases, 2020, depending on how long publications were delayed or where lower participation rates severely skewed the results.

In a brand-new ranking by Fortune magazine published last summer, Vanderbilt came in #20 among US MBA programs. Fortune’s methodology relies on 3 foundational elements: Outcomes, Brand Score, and Fortune 1000 score (C-suite participation).

In BusinessWeek’s fall ranking, the Vanderbilt MBA came in #24 – a jump of 6 spots from the most recent ranking in 2019.

In Princeton Review’s annual survey, Vanderbilt collected 6 top-10 ratings, including #2 for Best Administered, #4 for Best Professors, #3 Best Campus Environment, #2 for Most Family-Friendly, along with 2 shout-outs for concentrations: #4 for best MBA in Human Resources and #4 for Operations.

In Financial Times’ January ranking, Vanderbilt moved up to #41 globally (#24 in the US) as compared to #45 globally (#25 in the US) in 2020.

In the Economist’s 2022 “Which MBA” ranking, Vanderbilt came in #29 in the U.S.

In March, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Vanderbilt MBA #25, down 2 spots from 2021. We are proud to note the milestone of 3 consecutive years landing in the top #25 for this publication. This result, coupled with an overall rise in a set of flagship rankings, moved Owen up 3 spots to #25 in the Poets&Quants composite ranking.

Vanderbilt also moved up four spots to #21 globally in the Latin American outlet América Economía, published earlier this month.

The Vanderbilt Executive MBA program posted notable results as well, finishing in the Top 25 among U.S. schools in the Financial Times (#14), Economist (#24), and Poets&Quants (#22).
