Biography

Biography

Eric currently serves as Trade Credit and Political Risk Insurance Manager for Safehold Special Risk, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank), where he manages one of the largest insured trade credit and political risk portfolios in the country, covering exposures to financial institutions in about forty different counties – mostly in emerging markets (India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Peru, Brazil,  Argentina, Guatemala, Panama, Egypt, Morocco, etc.) with notional insured trade transaction volume in the neighborhood of $4.0 billion per year – generating gross premium of about $25 million to the insurance market. In this roll he helps to shape the strategy and structure of the program from the “ground-up” including documentation, underwriting guidelines, systems and staffing. Previously he served as Vice-President and Senior Credit Officer for QBE North America’s Trade Credit and Surety practice. Prior to joining QBE, Eric served as Managing Director at XL Capital Assurance.   Eric and his wife Darby have two children Victoria who recently graduated from Rhodes College and Warren who graduated from Emory University and is currently an investment banker with Credit Suisse in New York. Eric also serves as a trustee of his residential association, and during his free time you can find him playing golf, tennis, hiking or reading historical non-fiction books. Eric received his BA from the College of Wooster, where he was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and an M.B.A. in Finance from Vanderbilt University in 1980.
