Biography

Matt Peterson is the CEO of UnitedHealthcare Ancillary & Individual. Mr. Peterson is responsible for overseeing Individual, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Life, Financial Protection, UMR, All Savers, Bind, and StudentResources lines of business – overall, a $15 billion platform. Earlier in his tenure with UnitedHealth Group, he held positions in Specialized Care Services (n/k/a OptumHealth) and Human Capital. He joined United as a Director of Corporate Development at UnitedHealth Group specializing in mergers and acquisitions and integration; closing more than 75 transactions valued at $50B+.

He is also the President of the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation, a 501c(3) public charity dedicated to advancing health care to underprivileged children in the United States. Mr. Peterson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He is Chair of the Owen School’s Alumni Board.
