NASHVILLE, Tenn. ⎯ Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management welcomed one of the most academically accomplished classes in its history, comprised of groups ranging from recent college graduates to mid-career professionals across seven degree programs.
“The quality and selectivity across all of Owen’s graduate management degree programs continues to reach new heights,” said Jim Bradford, Dean of the Owen Graduate School of Management. “We’re seeing these positive trends yield benefits upon graduation as well, with measurements like job placement, starting salaries, and total career compensation continuing to increase.”
The full-time MBA program welcomed 175 students with an average GMAT score of 682, with a middle-80% range of 630-730. This year’s incoming class had an average undergraduate GPA of 3.4 and typically had 4.5 years of previous work experience. The average age of incoming students is 28.
The number of women enrolled in the full-time MBA program remains strong at 35%. International enrollment is up slightly over last year at 22% of the class, representing 22 countries from five continents. U.S. minority groups comprise 15% of students. This year’s class also includes 20 students enrolled in the Health Care MBA program.
Fifty-eight students are enrolled in the Executive MBA (EMBA) program, a premier 60-credit MBA degree offered to seasoned executives on alternating Saturdays. The incoming class had an average GMAT score of 600 and 11 years or previous work experience. Ten students from this year’s EMBA class will pursue the Americas MBA for Executives (AMBA) degree, which includes immersion rotations with partner schools in Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the U.S. during the second year of the program.
ONE-YEAR PROGRAMS
The 12-month Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program welcomed its first class of Valuation (MAcc Valuation) students this year. The new program focuses on the valuation service line that has been growing rapidly within global accounting firms over the past several years.
In total, 38 students are enrolled in the incoming MAcc and MAcc Valuation classes. The average GMAT across both programs was 700 (696 in MAcc and 705 in MAcc Valuation). The average GPA was 3.6 and women account for 47% of the incoming class across both programs.
The Master of Finance (MSF) program enrolled 44 students with an average GMAT score of 701. The percentage of international students in the program is 23%, mirroring this year’s full-time MBA class.
The Master of Management in Health Care (MMHC) program enrolled 32 students in its class this year, with average work experience of 16 years and enrollment of 47% women. In addition, 32% of incoming students hold a prior graduate degree.
Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management also offers a wide range of open enrollment and custom corporate education programs through its Executive Development Institute, including specialized seminars in health care, leadership, marketing, finance and innovation.
