Vanderbilt Business students Ben Jarnagin (MBA ’18), Drew Andrews (MBA ’18), Sriram Venkatakrishnan (MBA ’18), Johnny Lai (MBA ’18), Katherine Calvert (MBA ’18), and Bhargav Chennamalla (MBA ’18) earned 1st place at the 2017 Purdue Global Supply Chain Management Initiative (GSCMI) Intercollege Case Competition. The team earned a $5,000 prize for their 1st place finish.
The qualifying-round case asked competitors to achieve supply chain continuity for an Indianapolis-based company that produces sustainable car seat covers. Teams considered several additional inputs to the supply chain and market risks. In the final round, an actual disruption was introduced to the previous case, and finalists were tasked with creating a proposal to minimize costs and stock-outs.

“It was humbling to compete against some of the top business schools in the country and be chosen as the winning team at Purdue’s GSCMI competition,” said Jarnagin. “I was very proud to be on such a great team. I felt we represented Owen well.”
The competition included teams from IIM Udaipur, IIM Tiruchirapalli, IIM Shillong, University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois, Richard Ivey School of Business, Washington University in St. Louis, Georgia Institute of Technology, West Virginia University, University of Arizona, Penn State University, Purdue University, University of Iowa, University of Miami, and University of Southern California.
