Self-defined 'numbers guy' uses his background in financial consulting to secure a corporate finance internship — and stay in Nashville for the summer

Peter Taylor (MBA’19) started his career in financial consulting for PwC. He enjoyed the work, but after about five years he decided that he wanted to make a change from the consulting lifestyle. A political science major in undergrad, he also figured that now was the perfect time to return to school to get a true business education.

Given his background in financial consulting, Taylor decided to target two functions with a quantitative focus: corporate finance and operations. “When I was consulting, I was always more of a numbers guy, and I feel like finance will let me get back into that,” he said.

Taylor also decided that he wanted to stay in Nashville for the summer and began recruiting for both corporate finance and operations roles at companies with local offices, such as Cigna and Bridgestone. Ultimately, he accepted an offer to intern at Nissan in their corporate finance department.
