Bhanu Nuthakki (MSF’19) had already logged a couple of finance internships in his hometown of Hyderabad, India by the time he graduated from Indiana University in 2017. He took a gap year to continue interning in investment banking, and over time decided that getting a Master of Science in Finance degree would be a great way to cap off his experience and prepare him to get an investment banking job in the U.S.
He networked diligently over the summer and made a couple independent networking trips to both coasts. All his hard work paid off when he received an offer from investment bank Houlihan Lokey to join their San Francisco office, his top choice of location. He says that he’s most excited about working closely with all the tech companies in the area and learning from his colleagues.
“In sheer hours put in, there’s no other job that gives me the learning experience I’m looking for, other than investment banking,” he said. “To me, it’s not just about my job. I want to be a life-long learner…I’m looking forward to doing this in a supercharged context and to building up that expertise towards a long-term career.”
