Transparency is a major tenant of the Trump Administration’s approach to health care reform. This summer, President Trump issued an executive order on health care price and quality transparency that was informed, in part, by analysis and insights from Larry Van Horn, an Associate Professor of Management (Economics) and Executive Director of Health Affairs at Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management. Professor Van Horn was also on hand at the White House for Friday’s announcement of two new rules requiring hospitals and insurers to make their negotiated prices public.
In this episode of Vital Signs, Professor Van Horn talks about the need for price transparency in health care, his role in the Executive Order, and its future effects for the market and consumers.
