Vanderbilt Business is known across the globe for its high caliber of students, faculty, and staff. In this edition of People of Vanderbilt, we spotlight MBA student Jonathan Golden, who shares a little about himself.
What’s your secret talent?
I make stained glass art. I’ve been fortunate enough to have the Wondry’s support in continuing a family tradition that is generations old.
Who or what empowers you at Vanderbilt?
The diversity of backgrounds. Our class is composed of professionals from business, education, the military, and theater. Each person brings something different and this leads to some awesome discussions.
What are 1 or 2 experiences that have really shaped your time here at Vanderbilt?
Speaking at Humans of Owen and sharing my story was a truly unique experience. We had an incredible turnout that showed how much our community values learning new perspectives. I think I can speak for all of the presenters when I say there has been on outpouring of support.
What’s your favorite way to connect with the Vanderbilt community?
Closing Bell is the perfect way to connect with such a diverse and dynamic community. Closing Bells are often hosted by student organizations and are a great opportunity to learn about different cultures. I feel that food always finds a way to bring people together, that’s why the International Food Fair was my favorite!
What’s something you’ve learned about yourself during your time at Vanderbilt?
I have learned to love using data to find solutions. Previously, I thought that many of the concepts that I appreciate were completely intangible. Owen has taught me that I can not only quantify these concepts, but also gain insights to use toward effective solutions.
