This notice supplements the Vanderbilt University Privacy Policy. This notice describes certain practices regarding personal information received, collected, used, shared, and otherwise processed in connection with the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management. How do we collect your personal information?
Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management collects information on individuals who have expressed interest in graduate management education. We receive this information from a variety of sources including:
- Organizations serving individuals seeking management education such as Forté, GMAC, GRE, MLT, and Military MBA.
- Event registrations for on- or off-campus events.
- Event registrations for events we co-sponsor, such as MBA Tour and QS World Tour events.
- Online “request for information” and digital advertising forms.
- Started and submitted applications.
- Referrals from current students, alumni, faculty and staff across Vanderbilt University.
- Analytics collected via our website.
How do we use your personal information?
- We use U.S. Postal Service mail and email to communicate with individuals whose names are in our prospective student database. We may call or text message if you have provided your phone number for this purpose.
- Communications from our staff, faculty or current students generally offer information on the features and benefits of our programs, invitations to admissions events and advance notice of application deadlines. We sometimes survey prospective students on topics relevant to business education.
- All email communications are compliant with the CAN SPAM act; recipients are always provided the option to unsubscribe in order to opt out of future communications.

Does our website use cookies and similar technologies?
Some Vanderbilt websites may use third-party vendor re-marketing tools (Google’s “AdWords,” Facebook’s “pixel,” etc.) to serve targeted online advertisements about the university. These third-party vendors gather information about website visitors from cookies and other similar technology to tailor online advertisements for users. Vanderbilt may also use the collected information to measure the efficiency of its online advertising campaigns. If a user logs into a service (e.g. Facebook, Google) while browsing the internet, some of the re-marketing tools can potentially transmit personal information to third parties and Vanderbilt.
How to Opt Out:
- Users can opt out of the collection and use of information gathered for target advertisements by using the Digital Advertising Alliance WebChoices Tool, which scans browsers for companies that are utilizing customized advertisements.
- Users can opt out of Google’s ad personalization by visiting Google’s Ad Settings.
- Users can also opt-out of “internet-based advertising” by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt out website.
Do I have additional privacy rights once I’m a student?
Yes. Once enrolled as a student at Vanderbilt, your records are subject to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. You can read Vanderbilt’s FERPA Privacy Statement for Students here.
