Building Better Teams through Better Coaching

Airport training executive hones skills for piloting staff to better performance

Anthony Thomas works from a fairly simple philosophy: The performance of people within an organization is a direct reflection of their coach.

Anthony is a coach with 25 years of experience serving local, state and federal agencies. As Training Coordinator for the Metro Nashville Airport Authority, he designs and implements a variety of related subject matter issues for MNAA’s employees and stakeholders.

Through the Vanderbilt Executive Development Institute, he has been able to put his philosophy into action. “I genuinely feel that, by improving my performance with this program, there is a direct correlation to the performance of those whom I serve,” he says.

So far, Anthony has completed short courses at Vanderbilt in executive leadership and coaching. Both relate directly to his job. “I have attended a number of other executive-level programs,” he says. “However, I believe this is the first program that has actually sought to identify and improve upon my personal strengths and weaknesses. I was given a road map on how to proceed and improve moving forward.”

Anthony doesn’t intend to stop now. He plans to attend other EDI courses in the near future. “These programs stand up on their own against any executive leadership programs available,” he says. “They exceeded my expectations, and they are phenomenal.”
