Choosing a graduate program was easy for Mason Greenberg. After completing his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt, he says, “I couldn’t imagine leaving to pursue a graduate degree anywhere else. Nashville is such an awesome city to live in, and Vanderbilt’s campus, faculty, and student body make it such an enjoyable place to learn in the classroom as well as in social experiences.”

Remaining at Vanderbilt would also allow Mason, with another year of athletic ability remaining, to continue competing as a graduate student on Vanderbilt’s men’s golf team — an activity, he says, that “has been instrumental in my development as a leader.”

If the “where” was already settled for Mason, the questions of “what” and “how” remained — at least until Mason was able to work with the Master of Marketing program staff. “The Owen admissions team, particularly Suzanne Feinstein, greatly helped me in determining which grad program was right for me, as well as figuring out how I could participate effectively in the program while still being a student-athlete,” Mason says.

Then, after he enrolled, Mason credits Professor Steve Posovac with helping him refine his career choice. “He really helped me work through choosing an industry to learn about for an industrial immersion project in Mod One,” Mason says, “and I ended up learning a ton about the emerging telemedicine industry.”

Competing on the golf team during both the fall of 2020 and the spring of 2021, Mason was still considering where his career might take him next. But he felt well positioned to take his next shot. “[The program] has provided me the opportunity to learn from both professors who are experts in their fields as well as from classmates who constantly have extremely insightful and creative ideas. It has helped me grow as a person and undoubtedly will play a large role in helping me in whatever I do next.”

Fun Fact: A lifelong golf player who has competed around the world, Mason plays on Vanderbilt’s men’s golf team.
