Vanessa Annoni knew that Finance was where she wanted to be. She majored in the subject at the University of Central Florida and wrote her senior honors thesis on the ?necessity of managing monetary policy expectations as they pertain to the stock market.?
What she lacked, and didn?t fully realize she lacked until she came to Vanderbilt, was a clear sense of direction. ?I enjoyed Finance on a broad level, but I didn?t know in which specific area I would excel the most.? She credits Blake Gore, her MSF career coach, with helping her realize she most enjoyed and had the greatest potential in Financial Consulting.
Coming to Vanderbilt was ?the best decision I?ve ever made,? says Vanessa, who makes one or two trips to the Dominican Republic each year to visit her large family (?I have 33 first cousins on one side!?). ?It?s humbling to be taught by such important people in the Finance world, like Craig Lewis and Bob Whaley.
?I have always surrounded myself with motivated individuals, but this class is full of the most ambitious people I know. We are all very competitive but at the same time pushing each other to do better. It?s an ideal atmosphere.
?With the help of the Career Management Center, I got my dream job. And putting the career and academic things aside, I have had the time of my life in my year at Vanderbilt. Nashville is amazing, and through this program I have made friends I will be close with for the rest of my life.?
Fun Fact: In college, Vanessa was a Division I volleyball player.
