Biography

Betsy Karounos joined the Office of Academic Programs and Student Life as an Assistant Director in August of 2015. Betsy preciously worked at Owen, first in the Admissions Office from 1998-2001 and then in the Student Life Office from 2002 through 2010. Betsy is a native of Chicago and a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Aside from her vast academic administrative experience, she is an accomplished artist having commissioned numerous portraits, paintings and book covers. You may have seen some of her work if you have been to Fido in Hillsboro Village. She was an adjunct faculty member of art at Welch College and Trevecca University. Betsy lives in Ashland City, TN with her husband Michael, who is a Professor of literature at Trevecca. They have two children - a daughter, Eleni who is a Ph.D. Candidate in literature at Baylor University, and a son Thanasi, who is an Airman stationed at Hurlburt AirForce Base in Ft Walton Beach.
