“These strong results are a testament to our resilient students amid a challenging job market,” says Kathleen Rall, Vanderbilt Associate Director, Career Management Center.
Exceptional Employment Outcomes
The Class of 2023 reported earning an average base salary of $63,664. The Class brought their marketing expertise to a variety of job functions, with 15 percent holding brand and product management positions, another 15 percent in digital marketing, 11 percent in marketing communications roles, 9 percent in marketing research, and 8 percent in advertising and public relations roles. The remaining 42 percent of graduates reported working in other job functions ranging from sales to business analytics.
The Class of 2023 also reported working across a wide range of industries, including 21 percent in media and entertainment, 15 percent working for nonprofits or education, 13 percent in technology, 11 percent in consulting, and 9 percent working in real estate. The remaining 31 percent of graduates work in other industries, including but not limited to consumer products, healthcare, and petroleum/energy.
“While many graduates took on roles that align with traditional functional paths—such as digital marketing, sales, and public relations—the Class of 2023 also demonstrated remarkable versatility and ventured into non-traditional realms,” Rall says. “Notably, graduates pursued data analytics and operations roles, adding depth and diversity to the program’s legacy.”
Diverse Geographic Regions
Graduates of the Class of 2023 have also reported working in various regions across the U.S. with 53 percent keeping their talents in the South, 15 percent relocating to the Southwest, 10 percent in the Northeast, 9 percent in the Mid-Atlantic region, 9 percent relocating to the Midwest, and 2 percent working in the West. Another 2 percent of graduates took their talents internationally.

20 percent of job offers graduates reported receiving are a direct reflection of the strength of the Owen Network.
“We continue to be grateful to our alumni partners as a driving force behind our students’ success,” says Zeke Arteaga, Vanderbilt Associate Director, Career Management Center. “A loyal and accessible alumni network is essential in today’s competitive job market, and that is exactly what the Vanderbilt Master of Marketing degree offers.”
