Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management has named Cherrie Clark as Professor for the Practice of Management and Program Director for the school’s top-ranked Master of Finance (MSF) program.

Clark, who for the past three years has served as Director of the Managerial Studies program for Vanderbilt’s College of Arts and Sciences, will begin in her new position June 1, 2015.

“Cherrie is well known to the Owen School after teaching for several years in Accelerator, Vanderbilt’s Summer Business Institute for undergraduates,” said M. Eric Johnson, Dean of the Owen School. “I’m pleased that she will help us continue to strengthen the outstanding MSF program that we have built here.”

Clark has taught in Vanderbilt’s Managerial Studies program since 2005 and prior to that spent nearly 20 years as a consultant with Bain & Company and Executive Perspectives.

“It is an honor to join one of the most successful MSF programs in the nation, and I thank Dean Johnson and Dr. Robert Whaley for placing their trust in me,” Clark said. “I am excited to work with Vanderbilt’s world-class finance faculty to launch our students into successful finance careers.”

Vanderbilt’s MSF program offers a rigorous ninth-month curriculum designed to prepare recent college graduates for the CFA exam and positions in areas such as investment banking, corporate finance, investment research and private wealth management.

“With easy access to a world-class finance faculty, former high-ranking policy makers and top practitioners in the field, Vanderbilt’s MSF is a hidden gem among one-year finance programs,” said Robert Whaley, Valere Blair Potter Professor of Management and Chairman of Vanderbilt’s MSF Advisory Board. Whaley also serves as Director of the Vanderbilt Financial Markets Research Center.

“I’m pleased that Cherrie Clark will be joining this valuable program, bringing the skills she honed directing Vanderbilt’s Management Studies major,” Whaley said. “I feel confident that Cherrie will help guide the MSF program in the same positive direction it has been going under the supervision of Kate Barraclough.”

Vanderbilt’s MSF Program ranked #3 in The Financial Engineer’s 2015 survey and 98 percent of 2014 Vanderbilt MSF graduates received a job offer three months after graduation. For more information about the program, see business.vanderbilt.edu/masters-in-finance/
