Chika Chemizie (MBA’19) started her career working for Boeing Defense, managing relationships and contracts — sometimes in the multimillion dollar range — with suppliers. However, she knew that she didn’t want to stay in supply management or the defense industry for her whole career, so she began looking at business school to help her make the transition between both industries and functions.
Chemizie is a Forté Fellow, a program designed to increase the number of women in MBA programs. Forté Fellows have access to special networking and recruiting opportunities, including an annual conference during the summer. “It’s a community of likeminded women, trying to advance women in business school and ultimately help them into leadership positions at various companies,” Chemizie says of the Forté Foundation.
Chemizie earned an internship offer from AT&T at the 2017 Forté conference — before classes even began — but continued to explore other options at school. She ultimately accepted the offer from AT&T in their Leadership Development Program Internship.
