Kang’s research interests include technology management, strategic human capital, organization design, and strategy. She explores how organizations implement new technology, like artificial intelligence (AI), and its impact on the Future of Work. Specifically, Kang’s dissertation research looks at the ways workers proactively adapt to organizational adoption of AI and its impact on performance.

“I have always been curious about my experiences, my friends’ and family’s experiences, and how they are affected by technology and the economy,” says Kang. “I was born and raised in China, and seeing the changes in business strategy and organizational culture was always really interesting to me.”

Kang comes to Vanderbilt after completing her PhD in Strategy at INSEAD. Before academia, Kang co-founded a consulting firm. She earned a MA in Economics at the University of British Columbia, a BCOM in Finance at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and her BA in Economics at Nankai University in China.

“Growing up, I always wanted the international experience, and I was lucky to have the opportunity to travel around the world while pursuing my degrees,” says Kang. “I am excited to explore Nashville, put down some roots, and I look forward to collaborating with the Vanderbilt Business community.”

Kang is teaching Game Theory in Mod 4.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to continue my research and teach at Vanderbilt,” says Kang. “Academia is, in a lot of ways, an ideal profession. You can explore your own curiosity and research interests, and at the same time, get to enjoy teaching and interacting with students and colleagues.”

Outside of work, Kang enjoys hiking, traveling, and musicals.
