Graduates from the Vanderbilt Business Master of Science in Finance (MS Finance) Class of 2023 reported earning an average base salary of $86,284 and a median signing bonus of $10,000, both stellar employment outcomes for the program despite market challenges.
“These strong results underline our students’ perseverance and resourcefulness and testify to their strong candidacy,” said Ginny Ling, Associate Director & MS Finance Coaching Lead, Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management.
Exceptional Employment Outcomes
The Class of 2023 carried on the Vanderbilt MS Finance program’s history of achieving outstanding employment outcomes with 96 percent of job-seeking students accepting full-time offers within 6 months of graduation. The class brought their financial and analytical expertise to a variety of job functions with 39 percent of students reporting working in the investment banking industry, 12 percent working in real estate finance, 9 percent in advisory and valuation, and another 9 percent in corporate finance.
Diverse Geographic Regions
More than 30 percent of the class also reported working in a wide range of other job functions, including but not limited to investment management, equity research, sales and trading, management consulting, and private equity/venture capital. Graduates have reported working in various regions across the U.S. with 43 percent staying in the South, 18 percent relocating to the Northeast, 13 percent moving to the Midwest, 7 percent working in the West, 6 percent in the Southwest, and another 6 percent in the Mid-Atlantic region. Roughly 7 percent of graduates took their talents internationally.
“We believe the statistics reflect the relative resilience of the regional economy and Vanderbilt’s strong network in the region, as well as the appeal of living in these areas,” Ling says.
Vanderbilt Business Network
In terms of job search support, 44 percent of offers came through school-facilitated activities like job postings and alumni referrals, further demonstrating the strength of the Owen network.
“We take great pride in the accomplishments of the Vanderbilt MSF Class of 2023,” Ling says. “Their commitment, coupled with proactive involvement with the Career Management Center, led to these outstanding achievements.”
