Overview
At Vanderbilt, you have the opportunity to integrate the Leadership Development Program (LDP) into your MS Finance program experience to sharpen and advance your leadership skills. LDP offers you an experience unlike any other MS Finance program in the country. Learn more about yourself and your work style by leveraging industry wisdom, industry-proven assessments, and executive coaches to help you turn personal insights into personal success strategies.
Throughout your time at Owen, engage in one-on-one conversations with the LDP Team to help you learn from experiences, hone skills, try new things, and be intentional about the actions you take to be successful at Owen and in your full-time role.
How it Works.
Hogan Assessment
How will you differentiate yourself from your peers? How will you become your boss’ go-to person? Employ a leadership assessment used to develop leaders in more than half of the Fortune 500. Add a competitive advantage to your career by understanding your talents more fully and identifying underdeveloped areas that may need bolstering to achieve your future goals.
Executive Coaching
By working with a certified executive coach to unpack your personal information and goals, you can position yourself as a more promotable leader.
Develop practical strategies for building networks/relationships within your company and establishing your professional reputation all in a way that is consistent with your career goals and personal values. By establishing a personal success strategy for your first job post-graduation, you will be prepared to impress your future boss from day one.

FAQ
Learship Development Program
No, LDP is not part of any curriculum at Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management. By design, LDP supplements your academic work to help you develop as a more capable, well-rounded business professional. Just like in business—when your company offers you access to resources dedicated to high-potential leaders—your level of initiative, openness to new challenges, and drive for success are demonstrated by how you leverage those resources.
What you learn about yourself through LDP can shape how you tackle your job search, how you respond to interview questions, how you lead or contribute to high-functioning student and work teams and how you build your career.
Hogan is a personality-based assessment used by more than half of the Fortune 500 companies, including companies like Bank of America, Citi, and HSBC. Hogan was developed to improve workplace performance and is used among companies globally.
Our executive coaches in the Owen Coaching Network are a carefully vetted, high-performing set of independent coaches whose full-time job is to coach executives, leaders and future leaders in industry. Their primary clients are corporate leaders, and they take on as many Owen student coaching clients as their schedules will allow in a given year. Our coaches are qualified and certified by the International Coach Federation, and the coaches who work with MS Finance students are a specific subset of the larger network. Our MS Finance coaches have extensive experience working as a finance professional, working with finance professionals, and/or coaching finance and early career stage professionals.
