Class of 2020 graduates from the Master of Marketing program at Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management reported average base salary earnings of $63,166. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, 92% of the class also reported receiving a full-time or internship offer within 6 months of graduation.

“It was an honor to support this group of students. Their attitudes and adaptability in the face of a challenging spring highlighted their resiliency and work ethic,” said Amanda Fend, Senior Associate Director of the Career Management Center.

Vanderbilt Master of Marketing students from the Class of 2020 brought their marketing expertise to a wide range of organizations. The most popular industry for full-time offers was professional services, specifically marketing agencies, at 29%. Another 18% of graduates accepted roles in consumer products, while consulting, healthcare, retail, and technology each welcomed 12% of graduates, with financial services rounding out the list at 5%.

Class of 2020 students also accepted equally diverse full-time roles in terms of job function. The most popular function was client services at 28%, followed by digital marketing at 18%. Consulting services and marketing communications make up 12% each. Another 6% of students entered each of the following functions: brand management, business analytics, consumer insights, and merchandising.

“Many roles align with the functional paths we have seen students successfully pursuing since the program’s inception, with a high number of roles in client services and digital marketing, while a smaller group were successful in their pursuit of roles in more niche industries,” Fend said.

“The Class of 2020 took advantage of the program’s solid career foundation and paved new paths for current and future students. We look forward to supporting continued career success for the Vanderbilt Master of Marketing program,” she continued.
