With an average class size of about 175 students each year, our MBA program is one of the world’s most selective—and one of the best. Our students are exceptionally talented and diverse individuals who represent a wide range of backgrounds, industries and experiences.
Recruiters have described our Vanderbilt MBA students as confident but humble, eager-to-learn team players and creative thinkers. As one recruiter shared, “I think one of the things that makes Vanderbilt MBA students different is that they are their true selves. They are down-to-earth people.”
On-campus interviews are scheduled Monday through Friday during business hours (8:00 AM-5:00 PM CT). The Employer Relations Recruiting team is also happy to work with you to build a schedule that fits your needs. We handle all logistics and scheduling and will thoroughly market your job opportunities to our students through our secure online job board. Use the following five steps to make recruiting at Vanderbilt easy:
1. Pick Your Dates
Our full-service career system—GPS Recruiting—makes it easy for you to select dates, provide us with your preferred interview schedule and submit job descriptions. First, familiarize yourself with our recruiting calendar and select your preferred interview date and provide your 2nd and 3rd date choices. Review sample interview schedules to select your preferred interview schedule format. Finally, request your preferred dates in our career system—GPS Recruiting. After your date request is approved, you can attach relevant job description(s). Résumé submission deadlines are, by default, three weeks prior to your on-campus interview date. If you wish to change the résumé submission date from the default setting, please let us know.
2. Build a Company Presence and Promote Your Opportunities
You can do this by connecting with student clubs, holding office hours on campus, help with “mock interviews,” sponsoring a Thursday evening social and getting to know students at the event, putting a team of MBAs to work for your business with a class project or hosting a private reception or dinner with prospective candidates. Contact your Employer Relations Recruiting team for more information.
3. Select Candidates
Prior to your interview date, you will receive a résumé packet of all applicants who applied for your job posting(s). You may also source candidates from our free Vanderbilt MBA résumé book. To access the book, log into GPS Recruiting and go to the “Résumé Books” tab. Enter your selections on your On-Campus Interview Schedule in GPS Recruiting or email your interview list to the Employer Relations Recruiting team. Include any alternate candidates in rank order. Be sure to include the names and titles of the interviewers who will attend.
4. Plan Your Visit
Use our recruiting logistics links to find helpful information. Familiarize yourself with campus directions and parking. Before parking, stop by the Career Management Center front desk for a parking pass. We suggest arriving 30 minutes prior to your first scheduled interview.
5. Tips for Interview Day
Upon arrival, you will receive a Recruiter Packet that includes your interview schedule and candidate résumés. The CMC staff will be on hand throughout the day to ensure that all of your questions are answered. To be sure we are providing outstanding service, we ask that you complete the online survey we will send after your visit.
Host an evening session to boost your presence on campus. Information sessions are held Monday—Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM or 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Rooms are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Request your information session dates through GPS Recruiting.
